Living up to all the hype, AAHH Fest 2014 served all that and more last night for hip hop fans. Not only did it have an awesome lineup, it also had some pretty big surprises as well. The event took place in Chicago's Union Park and it was presented by Common with Dave Chappelle as host.
Kicking off the main stage, Chicago rapper Lil Herb turnt up the crowd with his opening performance followed by CZA and Jay Electronica. Legendary group De La Soul electrified the stage with their hip hop classics along with veteran rapper MC Lyte, who surprised the crowd by bringing out Lil Mama.
Later in the evening, R&B songstress Jennifer Hudson took the stage and smoothed things out with a powerful vocal performance, singing songs from her past and upcoming album. Hometown rapper Lupe Fiasco turned back up the crowd with his display of genius, spitting rhymes hot like lava.

The 2014 Global Spin Awards held their press conference Wednesday, September 17, at Midtown Manhattan's Bryant Park Hotel to announce this year's nominees. On the panel were and DJ Funkmaster Flex, DJ KId Capri, and DJ Premier, along with Boomshots founder Rob Kenner, all of whom said a few words about the importance of DJing to the culture of hip-hop. The panel was moderated by Shawn Perez, founder of the Global Spin Awards
The official award show will be held on November 18th at the New World Stages in New York, where the nominees will join each other in celebrating their work and the growth of the industry. The awards have grown into a weekend-long event. Prez continues, “The awards have grown over the years, drawing top names and brands. With the overwhelming response and participation, this year we’re pleased to announce a weekend long celebration complete with a DJ Clinics, panels and battles.”
